Celtic salt or "grey salt" has 82 living enzymes/minerals and trace elements, being the highest mineral content, even over Himalayan Salt. With Potassium, Magnesium, Iron and Calcium to name a few of its minerals.
Harvested in the Celtic Sea with the same method used for over 1,200 years. This salt has so many health benefits as it is a fundamental component of our daily diet.
NOT to be confused with "ionized" table salt which causes major health issues from inflammation, to increasing blood pressure, and the risk of stroke and increased risk of heart disease. Using Celtic salt in place of table salt you will immediately see improved over-all health.
I'll now discuss some of the many health benefits making this superfood part of your daily diet.
It's great for gut related issues as it heals the microbiome of the gut. Celtic salt also replenishes Magnesium levels which is crucial in our body and brain function, thus reducing brain "fog." If you often suffer with headaches and even migraine headaches, it's often contributed to a deficiency in certain trace minerals, especially magnesium. Celtic salt supports bone health by increasing calcium absorption. Supporting fluid balance as it helps with TEWL (trans epidermal water loss) and replenishes electrolytes. Far better than reaching for a Gatorade (with toxic ingredients) or Pedialyte which I know many parents use when children are sick. Try a small pinch of Celtic salt in warm water instead.
If you are addicted to energy drinks and coffee, instead try a pinch of Celtic salt on your tongue first thing in the morning and allow it to dissolve. Be sure to follow up with at least 8 oz of water. I prefer copper water or simply water that has sat for a minimum of 4 hours(this creates an alkaline pH) in a copper water drinking vessel as this has additional health benefits. I recommend to do this every morning first thing on an empty stomach. This is also fantastic to use post workouts. If you find yourself always feeling thirsty, Celtic salt again maintains hydration levels throughout the day.
With natural potassium it helps reduce hypertension by regulating blood pressure levels. If you have digestion problems, this salt promotes the production of healthy stomach acid which is vital for breaking down foods, thus allowing nutrients to absorb more effectively. Again, this salt is so much healthier than table salt which has a very high sodium intake of around 2,300 mg per teaspoon. This salt is considered a superfood with the high trace mineral content.
As an aesthetician I want to lastly discuss the benefits for your skin! If you have ever taken a dip in the ocean's salty water you may notice while on vacation an improved glow to your skin and the clearing up of acne. Salt water is a natural disinfectant and a mechanical exfoliator. It absorbs toxins in the skin as it exfoliates the dead surface skin. Improving the overall texture of the skins appearance by reducing the look of enlarged pores and your skin even feels smoother. However, please do not use this salt or any salt as a facial scrub! This would be far too harsh and could have adverse desired effects. What you CAN do is create a Celtic Sea Salt water solution by boiling enough water using clean distilled water (not tap water) then add 1 teaspoon or 5g of Celtic Sea Salt into the pot and mix. Allow to cool to room temperature. This does not need to be refrigerated just store at room temperature. Next apply mixture to a cotton pad or cotton ball and gently wipe your face. You may also opt for a fine mister bottle to spray the sea salt mixture onto your skin. To reduce over-drying be sure to follow up with a moisturizer for your particular skin type. Depending on your skin type, if you are oily you can do this treatment twice per week. If on the dryer side just once per week.
